Every time I dreamed of capturing the perfect sunrise over Lake Ontario, something held me back. My job had me chained to a strict schedule, and the rain this spring made the horizon more of a wet blur than a canvas for golden rays. But I was determined—more determined than ever. This shot was going to be different, something that hadn’t been done before. It had to be.
Days of storms had battered the shoreline, making it seem impossible. Each morning, I woke up, peered out the window, and saw nothing but dark clouds and slick roads. Still, my gear remained packed, ready for that elusive break in the weather.
And then, like the universe decided to cut me a break, the forecast cleared for one single morning. My pulse quickened as I drove through the quiet streets, the air sharp with the smell of damp earth and the lake's crisp, metallic breeze. The hum of my car was the only sound as the world slept around me. My breath fogged up the window as I gazed at the horizon, knowing this was it.
As I reached the pier, the sky was just starting to shift from deep blue to pink, like the sky was awakening from a long slumber. The chill of the early morning air hit me, and I tasted salt on my lips, remnants of the lake’s breath.
